About the event

The Laurens County 250 Committee and Duncan Creek Presbyterian Church invite you to the unveiling of the historic marker for Duncan Creek Presbyterian Church, 795 Golden Acres Rd.., Clinton, SC  29325, on Sunday, May 18, at 1:00 pm.  Duncan Creek Presbyterian Church, organized in 1763-64 is one of the oldest Presbyterian congregations in Upcountry S.C.  Most early members were Scots-Irish immigrants who began settling this area in the 1750s.  The namesake of the church and nearby creek is John Duncan of Aberdeen, Scotland, who arrived here from Pennsylvania.  Sixteen church members served in the Revolutionary War.  The oldest grave in the cemetery dates to 1776.  Tradition holds that the church's first house of worship was a log building constructed at this same site.
