About the event

Historic Marker Dedication Honoring Joseph Kellett and the Kellett Blockhouse

📅 Saturday, June 21, 2025🕐 1:00 PM

📍 Church at the Culbertson Backcountry Settlement

Join us as we commemorate a vital piece of South Carolina's Revolutionary War history with the dedication of a South Carolina Historical Marker. This special event will honor Joseph Kellett (1728–1785) and the Kellett Blockhouse, a colonial-era stronghold that protected settlers near Rabon Creek and the Cherokee Boundary in the Ninety Six District.

The marker also highlights the nearby Babb/Kellett Cemetery, preserving the legacy of early pioneers. Learn about the blockhouse’s role in the war, Revolutionary War veterans who passed through, and Kellett’s contributions to the patriot cause.
