Speaker Dr. Pat McNeely

Dr. Pat McNeely taught writing and reporting at the University of South Carolina. She is from Columbia.

She has written nine books featuring South Carolina, including Henry Timord, a life of sorrow and song, Sherman's Flame and Blame Campaign through Georgia and the Carolinas and the Burning of Columbia; Lincoln, Sherman, Davis, and The Lost Confederate Gold and John C. Calhoun, Andrew Jackson and the Petticoat Affair.

Her latest Book is "Historic South Carolina Ghosts and Legends." It has Ghosts from the Revolutionary War times to the present.

Fifty-seven percent of Americans believe in ghosts and 35 percent of the population say they've experienced paranormal activity in their homes, according to a 2021 survey by People Magazine.

Dr. McNeely is an excellent speaker. She also has Adair's ancestors buried at Duncan Creek Presbyterian Church.

We received a grant from the Speaker Bureau: Humanities Out Loud South Carolina Humanities for her program.Their mission is to enrich the cultural and intellectual lives of all South Carolinians.
