About the event

A proud lifelong South Carolinian, Ailene Shields Humphries was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and graduated from Columbia College with degrees in special education and public speaking/drama. She worked and retired from the South Carolina Department of Education where she taught students with special needs. She is a renowned speaker for the South Carolina Humanities.

Ms. Humphries believes the Revolutionary War sites presented in her book, all deserve to be visited, promoted, and preserved. She wrote it hoping to bring more awareness of the important role South Carolina played in helping the Thirteen Colonies become the United States of America, independent of England.

Ms. Humphries will also be presenting information about the newly established Liberty Trail in South Carolina and the fascinating but little-known stories of the Revolutionary War’s Southern Campaigns. The Liberty Trail includes sixty-nine battleground sites with a map.

Ms. Humphries‘ books, include topics of the “French and Indian War” and the “Civil War” and will be available for purchase.
