About the event
Brigadier General Andrew Pickens was born in Pennsylvania in 1739. He later moved to the Waxhaws region of South Carolina and rose to military acclaim during the Cherokee War. During the American Revolution, he commanded a three-hundred-man South Carolina militia through multiple battles across the South, including the Battle of Cowpens, Siege of Ninety-Six, and the Battle of Eutaw Springs.
Dr. Rod Andrew Jr. is a professor of history and Alumni Master Teacher at Clemson University and a retired Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. His written work includes The Life and Times of Andrew Pickens: Revolutionary War Hero, American Founder and Wade Hampton: Confederate Warrior to Southern Redeemer.
